Quarterly Competition Rules (including the preparation of Digital Images for competitions)


  1. Four competitions shall be held annually with points awarded counting towards the Club Championship.
  2. Quarterly competition entries will be Print (open) and D.P.I. (Themed). i.e. Two seperate competitions one for prints and one for D.P.I.
  3. A maximum of Three Prints and Three D.P.I. can be entered into each competition. Where a print or P.D.I. is entered into that seasons competition no other format for that image can be used again in that same season.
  4. Each image to be judged and awarded a mark out of a possible 20. The decision of the judge is final.
  5. There shall be held an Image of the Year competition, where each member can enter a maximum of Two Prints and/or Two D.P.I. which have been previously entered into the current season’s competition.
  6. Competition subjects shall be selected by the committee. Judges to be selected by the Programme Secretary.
  7. All entries must have been originally created using photographic equipment and the author must have taken all the components of the image. The exception being the use of Textures or similar effects. The use of AI in the generation of pixels is not allowed in the production of images.
  8. All prints must be mounted and measure at least 20.4cm(8 inches) on the longest side. P.D.I. to be sized at 1920 x 1080 pix
  9. Any image (print or DPI) that is entered into a competition, can have been taken at any time in the past provided it has never been seen in a competition before. If the said image is placed (i.e. First, second, third or forth) in a competition it cannot be used in any other competition in the future except for that years Club Championship. If an image is not placed in the first year it cannot be entered again until the next year. It can however be entered once the next year and once in year three. After that the image becomes “dead” and cannot be used in any other competitions in the future. The exception to this is years one to three club championship.
  10. Where digital manipulation has been used, the author must hold copyright of all images incorporated into the final image.
  11. All entries for competitions must be in the hands of the Competition Secretary by 22.30hrs on the dates specified by the committee and published on the club’s website. The date is normally the meeting immediately before the competition. Late entries will not be permitted.
  12. D.P.I. entries to be sent to the Competition Secretary by up loading to: coalvillecdps@gmail.com
  13. The winner of the Print Championship and the D.P.I. Championship will be the member who has accrued the highest number of points awarded in the Quarterly competitions.
